Alberta Obinim, 43, died at the scene after being attacked outside the family's home in Barnard Road, Gorton, on Sunday evening.

Her 64-year-old husband named locally as Baptist church leader Joshua Obinim - and the couple's 17-year-old daughter were seriously injured in the horrific knife rampage.

They were taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police have confirmed that the pair are continuing to receive treatment, with Mr Obinim continuing to fight for his life.

The family attended the Blessed Baptist Temple in Levenshulme, where Mr Obinim is a pastor.

Anthony Clement, an administrator at the church, said yesterday: "We are still waiting to hear from the police and hospital. As of last night, he was still in a critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers go to him." Ms Obinim, a mum-of-four, was stabbed to death as she reportedly tried to protect family members during the knife rampage at her home.

As her family came under attack, she reportedly grabbed a young child from her bedroom and rushed her from the property.
