A KILLER drank and took cocaine then sang Sweet Caroline in a pub - just hours after brutally stabbing his girlfriend Caroline Gore to death.
But, during the drug-fuelled session, David Liptrot told another drinker what he had done.
The landlady was informed of the 55-year-old's admission and staff tried to call Ms Gore.
Police were called and officers found the 43-year-old's body on the bathroom floor of her flat.
Liptrot denied murdering his partner who was described in court as 'vulnerable, having suffered with mental health difficulties.
But jurors took just 90 minutes to convict him following a trial in July.
Jailing him yesterday at Manchester Crown Court, Judge Suzanne Goddard said: "Your behaviour, knowing as you must have done that Caroline Gore was dead at your hands, was callous and shows the hollowness of your protestations in evidence that you truly loved her."
The court heard how Liptrot, of Shelley Close, Coppull, carried out a "brutal, sustained and clearly forceful attack" against Caroline on October 29, 2023, having argued with her at pubs in nearby Atherton earlier in the day.
