A FORMER council worker and charity boss who is hoping to oust Andy Burnham as Greater Manchester mayor in May has promised to end rough sleeping within a year.
Nick Buckley, who is standing as an independent candidate, has said he is 'confident' he can do it.
His campaign has now been backed by a coach company which has offered Mr Buckley a bus to help tackle the problem. It comes after Blackpool charity Amazing Graze brought The Big Red Night Bus, which offers rough sleepers a bed for the night, to Manchester.
The bus is fitted with a toilet, shower, washing machine, cooking area, TV and 10 bunk beds.
For over a year, the charity has been putting a roof over the heads of homeless people in the Lancashire
seaside resort. The staff onboard work with other organisations to arrange permanent accommodation, mental health support and access to drug treatment if required.
