A WELDER given less than a year to live following a shock diagnosis is now cancer-free thanks to a new drug trial.
Robert Glynn, from Worsley, Salford, had been unable to sleep after suffering agony in his shoulder.
The 51-year-old visited his GP and underwent a series of scans and blood tests, but it was only after Mr Glynn suffered an infection in his gall bladder that medics discovered he had been living with a rare form of cancer.
On the day before his 49th birthday, he was given the devastating news he had intrahepatic bile duct cancer.
The cancer, which forms in the bile ducts inside the liver and is also known as biliary tract cancer, has few treatment options. But after being given the chance to take part in a trial at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, Mr Glynn has a fresh start at life.
