Judge slams 'breathtaking arrogance' of teacher who had sex with two pupils

The 30-year-old had sex with two pupils whilst working at a Greater Manchester school.

She took a 15-year-old boy, referred to in press reports of proceedings as 'Boy A to the Trafford Centre and bought him a £345 Gucci belt from Selfridges, before she took him back to her apartment in Salford, where they had sex.

She was suspended from her post and arrested, but was later discovered to have fallen pregnant with a second boy 'Boy B' whom she met when he was aged 15.

The relationship turned sexual, with Joynes falling pregnant and later having his baby, despite telling him it was 'almost impossible' for her to conceive due to a health issue.

He learned she was pregnant after she had planned a 'date night' and bought him a baby-grow with the words 'I love my daddy to the moon and back' on it.

Joynes, of Pensby Road, Wirral, denied four counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust. She was found guilty by jurors.

Yesterday, she was jailed for six and-a-half years.

The presiding judge, Kate Cornell, blasted Joynes as having 'astonishing arrogance' and stating she had 'turned a blind eye!

She said: "You have said: shown an unwilling inability to face up to wrongdoing - this does you no favours Ms Joynes." The judge said despite her arrest and the allegations 'growing like wildfire, she began speaking with Boy B.

"You lied from that moment on," she said.
