A 'WONDERFUL' young mum killed by her ex-partner in a murder-suicide had used Facebook to announce she was in a new relationship just hours before she was killed, an inquest heard.
Regan Tierney, 27, was found with multiple stab wounds at her Salford home on June 5, 2019. Her ex-partner of 10 years, Daniel Patten, 31, was also found with critical injuries and died two days later in hospital. A coroner previously ruled his death was suicide.
Following an agonising five-year wait for the family, Regan's inquest resumed yesterday at Bolton Coroners Court.
In an emotional statement read to jurors, Regan's sister Shannon said she was a 'beautiful and wonderful human being' who was the 'most family orientated person you could ever meet. "We weren't just sisters, we were best friends", she said.
She told of how Regan had met Patten around 10 years before her death and described their relationship as 'on and off. She told the court Regan had two children with Patten.
