In total, 174 items were formally returned to the Aboriginal Anindilyakwa community in a handover ceremony at the museum yesterday. The items, which date back between 70 and 90 years, have been part of the museum's research collection for a number of years.
The items, which include boomerangs, spears and a group of toy dolls made from shells, which are known as Dadikwakwa-kwa, were part of the collection of Peter Worsley, a former professor of sociology at The University of Manchester.
