The AIbion Academy in Salford had been saddled with the 'requires improvement' rating since inspections back in 2014 and 2016 when it was still part of the Salford Academy Trust.
An inspection in July of 2016 found a number of weaknesses including pupils not achieving well enough in some GCSE subjects, 'variable' quality of teaching - with students not receiving regular homework - and poor behaviour among pupils.
A monitoring inspection the following year found that things had started to improve. The school's reputation within the local community had risen and there were more applications for new starters than ever before.
Six years on and the school has recently been told by the education watchdog that it is 'good' in every area.
