NORTHERN was last night blasted by Andy Burnham as a 'part-time rail service.
The mayor of Greater Manchester said the operator's performance was 'falling far short of what passengers in Greater Manchester and the wider north deserve' because of the number of cancelled services and Sunday 'do not travel' warnings.
He confirmed he's called an urgent meeting of the Rail North Committee, saying he wants Northern to set out an 'action plan to restore an acceptable level of reliability for passengers.
Mr Burnham responded on social media to an angry commuter who said he's 'managed to get to work on time once this week! He travels between Mills Hill in Middleton and Manchester Victoria, but Northern's website showed two trains before 8am were cancelled on Thursday morning, a situation the commuter said was affecting travellers repeatedly.
