Nathaniel Favour Enemona, 27, was last spotted in the Roch Valley area of Heywood at around 9am on Sunday, November 24.
A huge search was carried out after a dog walker raised the alarm.
Police, firefighters, mountain rescue teams, a coastguard helicopter, and paramedics took part in the rescue operation following the report at 10.30am.
The teams searched a stretch of the river close to Back o' th' Moss community centre into the afternoon.
