ERIK ten Hag would dissect what United did wrong after their biggest defeats last season and he would give the players confidence they could bounce back at the next opportunity, according to Marcus Rashford.

RASHFORD - How arrival of ETH has helped raise the game for players at United

Ten Hag enjoyed an excellent first year at Old Trafford and United are finally heading in the right direction again. The club’s trophy drought was ended with victory in the Carabao Cup and Champions League football has been secured.

The Dutchman has been responsible for raising standards at Carrington and the players have responded to his approach.

Although progress was made last season, there were still bumps in the road and a few heavy, shock defeats were suffered – against City at the Etihad, Liverpool at Anfield and against Sevilla away from home.

Those performances were concerning, but the team managed to bounce back immediately after each of those defeats and Rashford thinks the manager’s excellent ‘understanding’ of his squad was a factor in that.

In a candid interview with Sky Bet’s The Overlap, Rashford gave a rare insight into working with Ten Hag and he praised the manager’s winning mentality and his desire to win trophies.
