REPAIR works will take several weeks to complete after a freight train derailed.
Network Rail said the train came off the tracks at low speed, with nobody injured.
People living near the scene of the incident on Sidmouth Street, Audenshaw, last Friday reported their houses shaking and a scraping noise as the heavy wagons left the track.
British Transport Police, as well as the fire service and paramedics attended the incident, with the area immediately cordoned off.
The wagons tipped over at an angle after coming off the rails.
