The 20-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad and will be a part of Pep Guardiola's first-team squad this season. Having been away with Brazil at the Copa America in the United States, he will link up with his new teammates for the first time after the club's US tour.
Savio, who will take the No. 26 shirt, has long been expected to sign for City but they had to jump through hoops as a result of bringing the winger in from Troyes, who are a fellow City Football Group club. The Blues had to show the Premier League they were paying fair market value for the player.
He moved to Troyes and into the City Football Group network two years ago for a fee of EUR6.5 million, with another EUR6 million in addons, but has never played a competitive game for the French outfit. A loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in 2022/23 was underwhelming but he found his best form at fellow CFG club Girona last season, scoring nine goals and creating nine more as they finished third in La Liga and qualified for the Champion League.
“I’m so happy to be joining Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me,” said Savio.
