A DRUNK mum who collapsed at the wheel of her BMW slurred 'I'm sorry officers, I have been drinking tonight' as a bouncer woke her from her stupor.
Fiona Travis, 44, tested almost five times the alcohol limit after she was found in her 330e Sport on Leigh High Street in the early hours. Moments earlier, the doctors receptionist was spotted cruising 'very slowly' along the road.
The concerned doorman, who was about to clock off duty, tried to rouse Travis by tapping on the driver's side window after a passerby told him the vehicle had ground to a halt further up the street. But he then alerted police when he realised she was intoxicated.
Patrolmen arrived shortly afterwards and a breath test showed she had 160 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35mg.
