He looked rusty as Villa overpowered City, who struggled without the suspended Rodri and injured Kevin De Bruyne in the centre. Defeat at Villa Park means City have not won in the Premier League in four outings, their worst run since Pep Guardiola's first season in charge back in 2016/17.
But Stones believes that the pain his side are feeling now can be a positive thing come the end of the season.
"We've been in this position before and I don't think we should dwell on it too much," Stones insisted.
