Teen shooting was act of revenge after killing'

A TEENAGER was shot in the street in a 'revenge' attack 18 months after the murder of boy, a jury has been told.

Kennie Carter, 16, was killed in Stretford in January 2022. A teenager was later convicted of his murder, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Prosecutors allege that in August last year, a different teenage boy, said to have been present with the 'group that was responsible for killing Kennie, was shot in Stretford.

The shooting was described by prosecutors as an 'act of revenge, which was said to have been 'pre-planned' Jurors were told the alleged gunman, 18-year-old Ethan Deas, was a friend of Kennie. The alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was blasted with a shotgun at 'short range, a jury was told on the first day of the trial.

Opening the prosecution's case, Jaime Hamilton KC told jurors: "He shot him to his torso, the area of the body that contains the vital organs required for life. Ethan Deas's intention was to kill [the teenager]."
