A MUM whose house was left 'destroyed' by a builder has spoken of her despair after a temporary roof was ripped off her home during Storm Debi.
Svitlana Dampier, who lives in Rochdale, says she hired builder Chiorean Rares, who owns LNS Properties, to renovate her and her ex-partner's Milnrow home after purchasing it in 2020.
The couple put their 'life savings' into the property, but were left dismayed after they claim Mr Rares left it in an 'awful state!
They claim the roof built by LNS Properties was not secure, and Ms Dampier's ex-partner was left to cover it with plastic sheeting to protect the house from rain.
They claim the property was left ruined after the roof was torn off by Storm Debi, taking the walls with it.
Now, the family have been left to shoulder the huge cost of repairing the property, as well as damage to any neighbouring houses.
However, Mr Rares says all plans were followed, and work was halted on the property due to a failure to secure a contract with the owners.
"Everything has been left totally exposed," Ms Dampier's son, Taras Semeniuk, told the M.E.N. "The roof just blew off - you can see in the pictures how damaged it is. It is getting worse every day."
