IT PROBABLY won't come as much of a surprise - but July was officially Greater Manchester's wettest on record.
After weeks of seemingly endless sunshine and warm weather in June, summer took a turn for the worst last month. July saw thunderstorms, flooded roads and the hopes of England cricket fans dashed by the Old Trafford weather during the crucial fourth Ashes test. It certainly felt like there was barely a day last month when umbrellas weren't required.
And official figures from The Met Office back that up.
