A HORRIFIED eyewitness has described seeing a man lying 'lifeless' on the ground after being attacked.
It comes as a man continues to be questioned after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the 'serious assault' in Cheadle, Stockport, on Wednesday night.
It happened on Carrs Road near Roscoe's roundabout at around 11.30pm police said. The 39-year-old victim was rushed to hospital but his injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.
The M.E.N. understands the victim does not have stab wounds and that no weapons were seized at the scene. Police say at this stage they believe it to be an 'isolated incident.
The road was closed between the Human Appeal building and Alexandra Court, with a cordon in place, for more than 12 hours into yesterday afternoon as officers carried out enquiries into the incident.
A resident at the Abney Court block of flats on the road and close to the scene described seeing the violence unfold from his window.
