Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has challenged his recent arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Delhi High Court, contending that his detention in a corruption case linked to the alleged excise policy scam was an “insurance arrest” meant to ensure he remained imprisoned.
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, conducting proceedings on a holiday for Muharram, heard arguments from both Kejriwal’s and the CBI’s legal representatives. She reserved her order on the petitions challenging Kejriwal’s arrest and seeking interim bail. The high court scheduled further arguments on his regular bail plea for July 29.
