Secunderabad-Shalimar Exp derails near Howrah, no major injuries reported

Three coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express derailed at Nalpur station near Howrah on Saturday early morning. South Eastern Railway (SER) officials reported that no major injuries or casualties occurred though the train was packed with 1270 odd passengers.

Om Prakash Charan, CPRO of South-Eastern Railway said that the incident happened at around 5.31 am as the train was passing Nalpur Station in the Kharagpur Division on its way to Shalimar.

Two passenger coaches—one Third-AC Economy and one Third-AC and another parcel bogie were among the derailed coaches.

"The mishap took place while crossing over to the down main line from the middle line," he added.
