Israeli intelligence sources reportedly warned that the puppeteer nation would wreak all-enveloping attacks from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank, and from Lebanon and Syria to Iraq and Yemen.
The alarm came as Israel continued its bloody fight on three fronts, killing at least two in a West Bank assault.
It claims Iran is arming militant factions in the territory, which has been under Israeli occupation since the SixDay War in 1967.
At least 20 Palestinians, including a senior Hamas official, are said to have been killed in the West Bank cities of Jenin, Tulkarem and Tubas since Wednesday. Whole neighbourhoods in Jenin have been destroyed.
One dead Palestinian was said to have infiltrated an Israeli settlement, while another was shot at by soldiers after his car exploded.
Explaining yesterday’s deaths, an Israeli Defence Forces spokesman said: “Terrorists attempted to run over a security guard at the entrance to the community Karmei Tzur a short while ago and infiltrated the community.”
