The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the approval of International Aircraft Sales Private Limited, effective immediately, due to serious safety concerns arising from the company's maintenance practices. This significant decision follows a detailed investigation into the company's operations, prompted by a recent accident involving a Cessna 152 aircraft operated by Belagavi Aviation and Sport Enterprises.
On August 11, the Cessna 152 aircraft, bearing registration VT-BBB, crashlanded during a test flight in Guna after experiencing an engine failure. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the incident raised red flags about the quality of maintenance work performed on the aircraft. The aircraft had recently undergone maintenance, including an engine overhaul, at the DGCA-approved facility of International Aircraft Sales Pvt Ltd in Bhopal. The crash, which occurred during the first flight following this maintenance, prompted the DGCA to initiate a special audit of the company's operations.
