Empowering crisis-affected youth with leadership skills

The inquiries weren’t posed by an interview panel but by a group of refugee children, just a few years older than her toddler son.

They were curious about what motivated the woman from London to visit a school in northern Lebanon. They also sought guidance on whether they should pursue coding.

“When crisis-affected children are equipped with the tools, mindsets and skills to think critically and solve problems collaboratively, they are extremely motivated to tackle the world’s uncertainties and complexities,” says Katy Noble, global head of education in emergencies at Teach For All—a global non-profit leadership-building initiative--who will soon virtually intro- duce around 500 children in Mumbai to kids in war-affected countries including Afghanistan, Ukraine, Armenia and Palestine. Besides the importance of understanding the nature of crises happening miles away from them, her video session—which will be held on March 9 at The Museum of Solutions—aims to make children in the city learn through “open dialogue” that “despite the conflicts, there is still so much hope”.
