» One Stripe to dominate King's Plate.
I would like to start on a personal note. On Thursday I took my first few rides back after my injury, and while I thought it would take a few weeks longer, the progress over the last few days was astronomical, and after riding some work, I felt I could handle some race riding.
I took two rides at the Vaal and while my fitness will obviously improve, I felt incredible to be back in the saddle and I'll be taking it meeting by meeting while I improve my fitness.
I also hope that each and every one of you had a beautiful New Year's day with quality time with the family, and as mentioned previously, I really wish you all the very best for the year to come.
Last week saw the running of the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint and Pistol Pete won a really good race, even though the winning margin wasn't that far.
He has been a lovely horse from Day 1 and it's lovely to see him with another feature race under his belt and he has every chance of adding a couple more to his name.
Well done to Tony Peter, as well Suzette Viljoen and Kabelo Matsunyane for the lovely win.
Racing today takes place at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and it's one of the biggest race meetings of the year, with the Grade 1 L'Ormarins King's Plate over 1600m as the headliner.
This race is steeped in tradition and some of the best horses this country has ever seen, have participated and been victorious in this race.
This race is backed up by the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes, one of the most prestigious 1800m event for fillies and mares in the entire country.
There are a number of other feature races on the day, and overall it promises to be a fantastic day's racing.
Briefly touching on the Grade 1 races, the L'Ormarins King's Plate over 1600m comprises another high-quality field.
