The 45-year-old recipient from Nagpur had lost his entire intestine two months ago after developing gangrene owing to a blood clot. While he was on artificial nutrition through a thoracic vein, his condition deteriorated, said Dr Gaurav Chaubal, the director of the Liver, Pancreas, Intestine Transplant Program and HPB Surgery at Global Hospital.
