Police on Wednesday found the body of the second of two men who disappeared in Nerul on August 23 and named the first as the main accused in the case.
Real estate agent Sumit Jain, 39, and the president of the Raigad unit of the NCP, Aamir Khanzada, 42, went missing on the night of August 21. Jain’s body was found on August 23 while Khanzada’s body was found on Wednesday.
The police have now concluded that Jain hired contract killers to murder Khanzada. Jain also asked the them to injure him so he would be above suspicion, according to the police. But one of the killers stabbed Jain in the thigh over unpaid dues and he bled to death.
The families of the two men filed missing persons reports on August 22, a day after they went missing. On August 23, the police found an abandoned car in Khalapur with bullet marks, and the body of Jain in Pen Taluka. In the course of the probe, the police also found an abandoned two-wheeler in Sector 4, Nerul.
