‘Feeling Like Quitting Job, Don't Act In Haste'

Workplace problems, finding work a big burden, may have roots in mind, rather than in reality, say mind doctors

A 47-year-old woman scientist, working for a central research institution for 20 years, suddenly decided to quit her job. She began feeling that she was incompetent and a misfit in the system. She also became less communicative and stopped taking interest in getting ready for going to her office.

Her husband noticed the change and took her to a psychiatrist. The doctor diagnosed her with Major Depressive Disorder. She was put on medication and was also counselled. The doctor suggested her to put the decision of quitting the job on hold for two-four months and she did so. A month later, she started feeling the change and after four months, she abandoned the decision to quit and resumed her work.
