PM Modi marked Diwali for Varanasi with a development package worth over ₹6,700 crore, using the occasion to criticise SP and Congress. In a spirited address at Sigra Stadium, he accused the two opposition parties of stalling the progress and prioritising family interests over the development of the country.
Modi said unlike the opposition, BJP has always put the nation's progress first. "These parties have repeatedly blocked development efforts. Today, too, they continue to create hurdles," he said, positioning BJP as the party that honours athletes and youth, contrasting it with rivals.
The stadium was filled with enthusiastic supporters, including women, children, and the elderly, who cheered Modi with chants of "Har Har Mahadev" and "Modi" as he wrapped up his speech. Many waved vibrant paintings in the air, adding to the festive atmosphere before they exited the venue.
