Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday challenged his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case in the Delhi High Court. Describing his arrest and his six days' remand in the custody of the ED as illegal, he demanded an urgent hearing in the matter and his immediate release.
He has now urged the High Court to have his appeal heard by the acting Chief Justice by Sunday.
The High Court, however, rejected urgent listing of the case on Sunday and the lawyers were informed that the case will be listed on reopening of the court on Wednesday since it is closed on Monday and Tuesday on account of Holi festival.
Earlier in the day, using a backdrop similar to the one Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal often used while issuing statements, his wife Sunita on Saturday read out his message in which he assured Aam Aadmi Party workers and people of Delhi that "I will come out and fulfil my promises".
It is not known how she got his message when he is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate since his arrest on Thursday night.
