The accused, Vanita alias Asha Shailendra Gaikwad, would work in affluent households and within a week, steal cash and valuables before fleeing.Vanita had amassed crores of rupees through her crimes and frequently changed her residence to avoid being traced.In the latest incident, she joined the household of 59-year-old Zakir Ahmedbaba Mate in Vashi Sector 9.Within four days, she fled after stealing jewellery and cash worth Rs 3.5 lakh.A theft case was registered against her at the Vashi police station, following which she was arrested.
