The NCP (Ajit Pawar) on Wednesday declared its candidate for the legislative council elections scheduled for June 26. The party nominated Shivajirao Nalawade as its candidate for the Mumbai Teachers constituency.
The decision was taken without any consultations with the party's Mahayuti partners, the BJP and the Shiv Sena (Shinde).
Earlier this week, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which supported the Mahayuti in the general election, decided to go it alone for the legislative council polls.
