Even after three months of the disaster, there is no sign of any relief funds coming in from the Centre for the victims of the Wayanad landslide tragedy.
The Centre has also decided against categorising the disaster under the L3 category (a nearly catastrophic situation that overwhelmed the state and district authorities) that would have allowed more funds for the victims of the tragedy.
It has said "under the existing guidelines of SDRF/NDRF, there is no provision to declare any calamity as a national disaster."
It goes against the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after the massive landslide that the Centre would go all out to help the victims regain their lives.
