Priyanka, who reached the Parliament House donning a traditional light coloured Kerala Kasavu saree, which is off-white with a golden border and is usually worn on auspicious occasions, was escorted inside the Lok Sabha by her brother and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.He was beaming with joy and full of pride as he walked his younger sister into the building. Rahul also took pictures of Priyanka with his own camera at the entrance.As Priyanka took the oath in Hindi, her mother Sonia Gandhi, who is a Rajya Sabha MP and the Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson, and husband Robert Vadra also watched the proceedings.With Priyanka's entry into the Lower House, this is the first time that all three members of former PM Rajiv Gandhi's family are now members of Parliament.She had contested from Wayanad after Rahul, who had won the seat along with Rae Bareli during the Lok Sabha elections this year, vacated it.In her electoral debut, Priyanka, who had polled 6.22 lakh votes, had endeared herself to the voters through use of Malayalam phrases and greetings.As such she was often referred to during the campaign as "Wayanad nte Priyankari" (Wayanad's special one).
