While not passing any order, the Supreme Court on Tuesday laid down the conditions on which Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal may be released on interim bail in the Delhi liquor policy case and these included his “not signing any files” and not “performing official duties” since it does not want interference in the working of the government.
Though the Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta did not pass any order following an over three-hour hearing, as the arguments remained inconclusive, it did appear inclined to granting relief to the Delhi chief minister, who has been in jail since April 1 in view of the Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest and remand in the case before the court.
The Bench had on May 3said it “would like to consider grant of interim bail” to the chief minister in the liquor policy case because of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
