The worse is not over and the police have asked residents to stay indoors till 8.30 am on Friday. They can dial phone numbers 100 and 112 in case of emergencies, the Mumbai Police said in a post on X.
Eleven flights were cancelled and 10 diverted to Ahmedabad, Surat, Hyderabad, Indore and Goa. The operations were were suspended twice at the airport with the first runway closure between 8.32 am and 8.43 am and another from 10.36 am to 10.55 am due to poor visibility, which made flight landings and take-offs risky.
