The meeting in New Delhi between caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP's Ajit Pawar—steered by Union Home Minister Amit Shah—was intended to iron out the nitty-gritty of the power-sharing formula, with all three protagonists eyeing prominent roles in the new government.
However, the meeting ended with a group picture by way of optics. Shinde's demeanor and body language during the photo op sparked speculation about the persisting tensions within the alliance.
Observers noted Shinde was unduly quiet, especially when compared with his bravado and posturing in Mumbai during the press conference. His sudden flight to his village in Satara further fueled these speculations, suggesting that the transition was far from smooth.
