There was a face-off between the supporters of the Shiv Sena UBT and BJP MP Narayan Rane on Wednesday, at the Rajkot fort, where a 35-foot-tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had collapsed on Monday. A slanging match ensued and stones were hurled, with a police constable being injured in the process.
The chaos began soon after Shiv Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray arrived at the fort. Incidentally, Rane and his son and ex-MP Nilesh Rane also reached the location around the same time and soon, the air was thick with provocative slogans being traded between the two groups.
