Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sought to clarify his position over his successor by contending that people of the country were his successors.
Addressing a rally in Maharajganj to campaign for NDA candidates in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Modi said, "Modi is a person who has no personal 'virasat' (inheritance). For me, you are my successor. I do not have any successor and the people of this country are my successors." Modi's statement came after Delhi chief minister earlier in the day took a dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said, "Shah will not become Prime Minister as NDA will not form the government at the centre. Modi has chosen you as your successor, making you so proud of this that you started abusing and threatening people. You have not become PM so far but still you have become so arrogant."
