The release came hours after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in cases filed by both the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation in the liquor policy case.
Sisodia was arrested first by the ED on February 26, 2023, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and then by the CBI, which was investigating the conspiracy aspect of the Delhi liquor policy case, on March 9, 2023. The Bench of Justice B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan granted bail to Sisodia as it felt that "there is not even the remotest possibility" of the trial being concluded in the near future.
