I had gone in to deposit some cash and the woman behind the till eyed me as if I had arrived from the Dark Ages.
"You can do all this online now you know," she told me. Several times.
Undeterred I handed over my savings book.
"It would be more convenient for you to bank online. It would save you time," she countered.
I assured her I had the time, liked to pop into the branch, and enjoyed speaking to a human being.
She pursed her lips, completed the transaction and, clearly disappointed that she hadn't converted me, bade me a less than fond farewell.
In a column I wrote back then I said I didn't get that attitude.
