Bovey Tracey cruise to a seven-wicket victory over Plympton

Bovey Tracey cruised to a sevenwicket win over Plympton, who are rock bottom in the Premier Division two games into the new season.

Plympton’s total of 128 all out – Carr top scoring on 44 – was knocked-off in just 20 overs.

Carr admitted there were areas that need improvement, but added praise for the ‘effort’ shown by the side he took to Bovey Tracey.

“It was not our best display – particularly with the ball – and there were a few soft dismissals throughout our innings,” said Carr.

“I can’t fault the effort and character of all the lads though. We still have a few away and I am hoping for a stronger showing in the weeks to come.”

Harry Kandampully (28) made early runs for Plympton, who reached 108 for three with Carr and Ollie Goulder (10) responsible for a 54-run partnership.

Losing Goulder then Carr one after the other to Musa Twala (3-6) was the beginning of the end for Plympton’s batting.

Opening bowler Seb Ansley (3-17) returned to help flush out the tail, which happened in a hurry! Plympton’s last five wickets all fell on 128.

Bovey got away to a 60-run start through Jake Pascoe (27) and Adam Kent (26), who was finally third out on 100 for three.

Twala, who went in at 60 for two after a double strike by Carr (2-17) hit four sixes and two fours on the way to a match-winning 46 not out.

SRI Lankan paceman Naveen Fernando administered six of the best to Bradninch & Kentibeare as Cornwood handed them a 94-run thrashing.

■ CORNWOOD made 192 all out in the 45th of the 50 overs available to them – Ben Beaumont top scoring on 42 after going in at first wicket down.
