Cafe aims to make you feel you're abroad

A TASTE OF PORTUGAL IS ON OFFER AT WEST END CAFE

IF you are hankering for a taste of Portugal but the Algarve is a little too far to travel, then Plymouth has the ideal solution. A West End Portuguese themed cafe has launched a new menu after marking its first year in business and wants its customers to feel like they are sunning themselves on vacation.

As the Portuguese might say, Coffee Time, on Cornwall Street, is “ fabuloso”.

Carla Wilkinson and her partner Ebo Mohammadi bought what was called the Brazilian Coffee House when the owner, who had another business to run, decided to sell up in August 2023.

Carla said the couple took something of a risk, although she had worked in hospitality before, Ebo had been a barber, so neither had run a food and drink outlet. But a year on and the business has thrived.

“It was a big change and a big risk,” said Carla. “But we went all in, worked hard, and it worked out. Now we want people to come here and feel the vibe, we want them to feel like they are on holiday. Some people actually say it is like being in Portugal.”
