Rhys Riley took on the property at the beginning of the year which had been left empty after its previous owner died.
Rhys, aged 32, says he comes from ‘humble’ beginnings and a lot of ‘hard work and graft’ went into revamping the crumbling pile.
Rhys, who grew up in Whitleigh but now lives in Southway with his partner and kids, says he wants to inspire ‘normal’ people in the city that we can all strive to have the nice homes ‘we see on Instagram’.
The dad, a plasterer by trade, was given the keys to the house, in Cattedown Road, in January and two weeks ago the epic project came to an end. Lauding his ‘amazing’ team of traders, Rhys is now on the search for his second property to transform.
He said: “I am forever hearing, ‘I wish we lived in this house or that’ but I am looking at these properties and thinking, ‘Why can’t a normal person have a house like this? We don’t have to aspire to live in a 10-bed manor house on the moors.”
