AN elderly couple who were heartbreakingly separated for over 120 days due to a lack of suitable housing have finally been reunited in an emotional homecoming.
Sheila Glass, 96, and her husband William Glass, 94, with a marriage spanning 74 years, are together again after being apart for more than four months.
The couple has recently settled into their new abode in Torpoint, which is conveniently located just two minutes away from their son-inlaw, Mike Adams.
Their separation was a result of housing and care shortages, which left Sheila stranded in hospital long after she was ready to be discharged, because their Millbrook home was deemed unsafe following Sheila’s neck injury from a fall.
Sheila had to endure an extended stay at Liskeard Hospital in Cornwall, lasting over 120 days, as they navigated the challenging situation.
But after overcoming numerous hurdles and enduring significant stress, Bill and Sheila have now moved into a new flat, with their family’s assistance.
Upon their departure, the staff at Liskeard Hospital bid them a fond farewell and presented the couple with a China tea set as a parting gift, symbolising the joy of sharing a cup of tea together once more.
