'Don't let my son's tragic death be for nothing'

THE father of a Plymouth boy tragically killed in a horrific dog attack at Tencreek Holiday Park in Cornwall is backing a new campaign demanding a law change on dangerous pets.

“Bright, brave and beautiful” nineyear-old Frankie MacRitchie, from Plymouth, had been left alone by his mother in a caravan for more than two hours with a dog at Tencreek Holiday Park in Looe when he lost his life.

Every time Frankie’s family hear of another dog attack, it brings back the grief and pain of what happened to their lad whose life was cut so tragically short.

Now his devastated dad Billy is backing a campaign by the Mirror national newspaper to change the law on dangerous dogs to prevent more deadly attacks on children.

He said: “I don’t want another family living the nightmare my family and I live every day of our lives. Frankie didn’t stand a chance. Our only hope is that his tragic death wasn’t for nothing and it may help save other children.”

Billy, 36, is backing changes to dog laws after his son’s death in 2019, saying: “There has to be change. I don’t want to see another child die needlessly at the hands of careless adults and dangerous dogs.”
