Fixture Release Day: An Ideal scenario for Pilgrims' return
The Herald|June 22, 2023
EXCITEMENT is already building ahead of Plymouth Argyle’s return to the Championship after a 13-year absence for the 2023/24 EFL campaign
Fixture Release Day: An Ideal scenario for Pilgrims' return

The Pilgrims won League One with 101 points last term from their 46 games and even though a large number of players have moved on since then for one reason or another the club will still be looking to continue their momentum into the new season.

Steven Schumacher could make around 10 new signings as he looks to make Argyle into a competitive Championship outfit.

The EFL fixtures will be announced at 9am today, followed by the Carabao Cup first round draw at 2.30pm, and Argyle will start preseason on June 28.

With the amount of live TV coverage in the Championship by Sky Sports, Argyle can expect to have less 3pm Saturday kick-offs.

There are likely to be some games on Friday nights, and lunchtimes on Saturdays and Sundays, instead to fit in with the requirements of the broadcaster.

Don’t forget that we will have all of Argyle’s Championship fixtures in tomorrow’s Herald, plus some reaction to that and the Carabao Cup draw from Home Park.

Herald Sport’s Chris Errington has come up with some ideas for an Argyle wish list for their Championship fixture schedule.

HOME START

There is going to be huge anticipation about Argyle’s first game in the Championship in 13 years, but playing it at Home Park rather than somewhere else in the country would be extra special.
