POLICE have confirmed the cause of a gas leak in Plympton which sparked a huge emergency response.
A number of emergency service vehicles rushed to Langage Industrial Park, where a number of road closures were put in place yesterday. A 750-meter safety cordon was put in place, and business employees were urged to shut both windows and doors.
In an update yesterday afternoon, Devon and Cornwall Police’s Inspector Mat Helm confirmed that officers were called to reports that a piece of plant machinery had gone through a gas main. It was deemed to be a “significant” gas leak, resulting in a number of businesses being evacuated.
