PLYMOUTH Argyle are getting closer to signing a new goalkeeper to replace Michael Cooper but not in time for the Championship clash with Hull City at Home Park this afternoon.
Head coach Wayne Rooney is hoping a deal can be completed early next week after Cooper was transferred to Sheffield United earlier this week for an initial fee of £2 million but which could rise to up to £4m with various add-ons.
Conor Hazard will play his third successive match at the start of the season as Argyle's keeper against Hull, while second-year professional Zak Baker, who had been on loan to Plymouth Parkway, has been now cleared by the EFL to be the back-up for the Pilgrims' first home league game of the campaign.
