Gibson insists there is plenty still to come

THE joint club record £1 million transfers of Bali Mumba and Morgan Whittaker were the headline grabbing moves by Plymouth Argyle last summer but the less heralded signing of Lewis Gibson has proved to be an important one too.

The 23-year-old defender, an Under-17 World Cup winner with England in 2017, joined from Everton and has been a first team regular, both under former manager Steven Schumacher and current boss lan Foster, apart from a couple of short spells when he has been injured.

Argyle's 34 Championship matches after spending last season on loan to Bristol Rovers in League One last term so his career trajectory is very much on the up.

Gibson said: "You can always improve, you have always got little bits to sharpen but overall I'm quite happy with how I'm progressing.

There is plenty more to come." Foster was appointed in January after Schumacher left Home Park to take over at Stoke City and he has adopted a different tactical approach, which has impacted on Gibson.
